What does this mean for you?
This page explains how Weltmeldung handles copyright and takedown requests. If you believe your copyrighted work has been used on our site without authorisation, you can ask us to remove it. We take intellectual property seriously and will act promptly on valid notices.
What does this policy cover?
It covers all content published on weltmeldung.de, including text, photographs, illustrations, graphics, video and audio. Image rights are particularly important: every editorial image is either licensed, used under fair‑dealing provisions, or credited to its source. Readers and rights‑holders can report any image they think infringes their copyright.
The policy also applies to user‑generated content submitted via our contact forms, comments or tip‑us page. If you upload material that isn’t yours, you are responsible for securing the necessary permissions.
How do I report a copyright infringement?
Send a written notice to copyright@weltmeldung.de (this is the only address for takedown requests). You can also use our general contact page, but copyright‑specific emails are processed fastest. We will acknowledge receipt within two business days and aim to resolve your request within ten working days.
What information should I include in my notice?
To help us act quickly, please provide:
- your full name and contact details (email, postal address, phone);
- a clear description of the copyrighted work you believe has been infringed;
- the exact URL or location of the material on weltmeldung.de;
- a statement that you have a good‑faith belief the use is not authorised by the rights‑holder, their agent, or the law;
- a statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in your notice is accurate and that you are the rights‑holder or authorised to act on their behalf; and
- your physical or electronic signature.
Incomplete notices may delay our response. If you are unsure whether your claim qualifies, you may wish to seek legal advice first.
How this works in practice
Imagine a photographer finds one of their unpublished landscape images used as the lead picture in one of our articles. They send a notice to copyright@weltmeldung.de with the URL, their contact details, and a signed statement confirming they own the copyright. Our fact‑checking team, led by Vanessa Peters (emma.sandberg@weltmeldung.de), investigates immediately. If the image was taken from an unlicensed source, we remove it within 48 hours, replace it with a properly credited alternative, and inform the photographer of the outcome. We also update our internal logs to prevent repeat use of the same unlicensed material.
