How does this editorial policy affect you as a reader?

This page explains the editorial standards you can expect from every article on Weltmeldung.de – how we decide what to publish, how we label different types of content, and what to do if something does not meet those standards. Use it as a reference whenever you want to understand the provenance, funding or decision-making behind a story.

Weltmeldung.de is an independent Swedish digital news publisher. Our tagline, “Nachrichten, Analysen und Hintergründe für Deutschland,” reflects a commitment to covering Sweden clearly for a German-speaking and international audience. Every piece of editorial content is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by an editor and fact-checked before publication. Commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions.

How does Weltmeldung.de distinguish between news, opinion and other content?

Each article is assigned a clear category during production – news, opinion, feature, sponsored content or affiliate content – and that category is indicated to the reader where relevant. News articles report facts without comment; opinion pieces are clearly labelled as analysis or commentary; features provide background and context; sponsored content is labelled as such at the top of the page; affiliate links are disclosed in a standard notice.

Our editorial mission is trustworthy Swedish journalism that helps readers understand complex issues without spin or oversimplification. To achieve that, we maintain a strict separation between editorial decision-making and commercial interests. Sponsored material is never presented as independent journalism, and affiliate links do not influence editorial coverage.

What levels of article-level transparency can I expect?

Every article on Weltmeldung.de displays the name of the writer, the date of publication, and a note that it has been reviewed by an editor and fact-checked. If a correction is made, an update notice is appended to the article linking to our /corrections-policy/. Readers can see at a glance who wrote a piece, when it was last updated, and who was responsible for its accuracy.

For articles that involve complex sourcing, we include a note about the documents or interviews used. If AI-assisted tools supported research or drafting, that is disclosed in the article metadata. But no AI-generated content is published without human editorial approval; every piece is signed off by a human editor before going live.

How does the publication ensure independence from commercial interests?

Weltmeldung Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar, owns the publication, but editorial decisions are made solely by the editorial team led by Chefredaktör Benjamin Albrecht. Our funding comes from display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing – and all such material is clearly labelled. For full details, see our /ownership-funding/ and /advertising-affiliate-disclosure/ pages.

No advertiser, sponsor or commercial partner can dictate what we cover or how we cover it. Sponsored content is clearly marked as “Sponsored” at the top of the page and is produced under a separate contract that never influences newsroom output. Affiliate links are accompanied by a brief disclosure. If we ever enter into a partnership that could create a perceived conflict, we disclose it in the relevant article.

How is artificial intelligence used in editorial content?

AI-assisted tools may support research, editing, formatting, translation, metadata generation, headline options, summaries and transcription – but they never replace human editorial judgement. Every article published on Weltmeldung.de is reviewed by a human editor before publication. Our /ai-automation-policy/ explains in detail which tools we use and the safeguards in place to prevent fabrication or misattribution.

We explicitly prohibit AI from fabricating quotes, sources, interviews, bylines, author experience or expert profiles. Where AI is used for translation or transcription, a human editor verifies accuracy. If you encounter any content that appears to violate this policy, please contact our fact-checking team at factcheck@weltmeldung.de.

How are sources and bylines attributed?

Every article carries the name of the writer who drafted it, the editor who reviewed it, and the fact-checker who verified its sources. Our editorial team includes Chefredaktör Benjamin Albrecht, Redaktionschef Stefanie Otto, Politikredaktör Felix Pohl, Wirtschaftreporter Petra Schneider, Kultur- och samhällsredaktör Andreas Krüger, and Ansvarig för faktagranskning Vanessa Peters. For full professional backgrounds, see /our-team/.

We do not publish anonymous bylines. In rare cases where a source requests anonymity for safety reasons, we explain that in the article and provide context. All named writers are accountable for their work; if an error is found, the correction procedure involves the writer and editor.

How this works in practice

Take a typical article about a new Swedish government bill. The Politikredaktör, Felix Pohl, researches the bill using official documents and interviews. He drafts the piece, which is then reviewed by Redaktionschef Stefanie Otto for clarity and fairness. Fact-checker Vanessa Peters verifies all numbers and direct quotes against primary sources. The finished article is published with Felix’s byline, a date, and a note that it has been fact-checked. If the article contains an affiliate link to a book mentioned, that link is disclosed. If the article is sponsored by a foundation, that sponsorship is labelled. No commercial relationship has influenced the factual reporting.

What should I do if I have a complaint about an article?

Weltmeldung.de takes complaints seriously. If you believe an article contains a factual error, misrepresents a source, or breaches our editorial standards, please contact us through our /complaints-procedure/. That page provides a clear four-step process: submit your complaint, receive an acknowledgement within two working days, get a substantive response within ten working days, and, if unresolved, escalate to the Chefredaktör.

We also maintain a /corrections-policy/ that explains how errors are corrected and noted. Minor corrections are appended to the article; significant corrections are accompanied by a full explanation. Our fact-checking team can be reached directly at factcheck@weltmeldung.de.

Who owns and funds Weltmeldung.de?

Weltmeldung Media Ltd. is a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry). Its registered office is Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000. The company operates Weltmeldung.de and is solely responsible for funding and governance. Our revenue sources – display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing – are all explicitly disclosed on /advertising-affiliate-disclosure/. Sponsored content is always labelled, and affiliate links are always accompanied by a disclosure. No funding source can influence editorial conclusions. If you have any questions about a specific article’s funding, please contact info@weltmeldung.de.
