This page explains who owns Weltmeldung, how we are funded, and how we safeguard editorial independence. If you have questions about our business model or want to contact us about advertising, you are in the right place. Everything you read here is part of our commitment to being open about the forces that shape our journalism.
How is Weltmeldung funded?
Weltmeldung is funded through a mix of display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships, and content licensing. Every revenue stream is managed separately from editorial decisions.
We run display advertisements on the site, which are served by third-party networks and directly sold ads. Affiliate links appear in some articles – for example, when we review a book or a service – and any commission earned is clearly disclosed. Sponsored content is produced in collaboration with a brand but always carries a visible label such as “Sponsored” or “Paid partnership”. Our newsletter may include sponsor messages, and we occasionally license articles to other outlets under strict conditions. No funding source can buy editorial influence.
How this works in practice
To make this concrete, imagine we publish an article about the Swedish housing market. If a real-estate platform pays us to produce a sponsored guide to buying a home, that guide will be marked “Sponsored” at the top and bottom. The editorial team retains full control over the facts and the writing. Meanwhile, an unrelated article on the same topic – written by our Wirtschaftreporter, Petra Schneider – will never be shown to the sponsor before publication, and no sponsor can request changes to editorial content. Affiliate links for mortgage comparison tools might appear in that article, but only if they genuinely help readers compare offers. Every such link is disclosed with a short note like “We may earn a commission if you use this link.”
Who owns Weltmeldung?
Weltmeldung is owned and operated by Nordklar Media Ltd, a private company registered in Gibraltar, company number C 92009. The registered office is Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000 (the company is also registered with the Malta Business Registry).
The company was founded in 2024 and is entirely privately held. There are no external shareholders, venture capital investors, or political organisations with a stake in the business. Editorial leadership sits with Chefredaktör Benjamin Albrecht, who is accountable for all editorial standards, publication decisions, and corrections. You can meet the full team on our team page.
Editorial independence – how we protect it
Our funding model is built around the principle that commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions. Sponsored and commercial material is clearly labelled, affiliate links are disclosed, and no advertiser or partner has a say in what we cover or how we cover it.
Benjamin Albrecht has the final say on all editorial content and can reject any commercial proposal that would compromise independence. Our fact-checking team, led by Vanessa Peters, verifies every article before publication – including sponsored pieces. The editorial mission – trustworthy Swedish journalism that helps readers understand complex issues without spin or oversimplification – is the only guide for our newsroom. For more detail on our policies, see Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure and Sponsored Content Policy.
