Richtlinie für gesponserte Inhalte

Sponsored content helps us fund our journalism while keeping most of our reporting free for readers. This page explains how you can identify sponsored material, how it differs from other commercial arrangements, and what guarantees we make about editorial independence. If you have a specific enquiry, contact our sponsored team at the address at the end of this page.

How do we label sponsored content?

Every piece of sponsored content on Weltmeldung.de carries a clear, visible label that tells you it has been paid for by a third party. We never hide this relationship.

The label appears at the top of the article, directly beneath the headline, and reads “Sponsored Content” in bold text. In addition, the byline credit includes the phrase “in partnership with [sponsor name]”. The same disclosure is repeated at the bottom of the page in a boxed note. If the content appears in a newsletter or on social media, we add a similar disclaimer there too. No sponsored article is ever presented as independent editorial work.

What is the difference between sponsored content and affiliate links?

Sponsored content is a paid arrangement where a client funds a specific article or series, while affiliate links are commissions we earn when you click a link and buy a product – without any upfront payment for the article itself.

With affiliate links, we choose the product and write the piece independently; the merchant has no control over the content and pays only if a sale results. Sponsored content, by contrast, involves a direct fee for the production and publication of the material. Both are fully disclosed, but they follow different rules. Sponsored content is subject to our editorial review (see below) and must meet our fact‑checking standards. Affiliate links are covered by our separate Advertising & Affiliate Disclosure. We never allow affiliate relationships to influence our editorial conclusions, nor do we accept sponsored content that would compromise our reputation for trustworthy journalism.

How do we maintain editorial independence when a sponsor pays for content?

Editorial independence is non‑negotiable at Weltmeldung.de. A sponsor may suggest a topic, but the final judgement on angle, sources, wording and publication rests entirely with our editorial team.

Before any sponsored piece goes live, it is drafted by a named writer, reviewed by a section editor and checked by our fact‑checking team led by Vanessa Peters, Ansvarig för faktagranskning. The sponsor may review a draft for factual accuracy about their own organisation, but they cannot change the analysis, tone or conclusions. If the sponsor requests changes that we consider misleading or unsubstantiated, we refuse and either pull the piece or publish it without sponsorship. Our Editorial Policy and Fact‑Checking Policy apply equally to sponsored and non‑sponsored content. The same human‑editor approval process is used for all articles, regardless of funding source.

How this works in practice

To make this concrete, imagine a Swedish clean‑energy company wants to sponsor an article about household solar panels. The company contacts us and we agree on a brief: an explainer on installation costs and savings in Sweden, not a company profile.

Our Wirtschaftreporter Petra Schneider drafts the story. She interviews independent analysts and checks data from the Swedish Energy Agency. The sponsor reviews the draft only to verify that their own quoted figures are correct. They cannot remove references to competing products or add promotional language. The fact‑check team, led by Vanessa Peters, verifies all numbers and sources. The article is labelled “Sponsored Content – in partnership with [company name]” at top and bottom. Once approved by Chef redaktör Benjamin Albrecht, it is published. The sponsor pays a flat fee; no commission is tied to clicks or sales. This process ensures the reader gets the same reliable information they expect from any other Weltmeldung article.

How is our journalism funded?

Weltmeldung.de is owned and operated by Weltmeldung Media Ltd., a private company registered in Gibraltar (company number C 92009, Malta Business Registry). Our registered office is Office 9, Business Centre, Valletta, 0000.

We generate revenue through display advertising, affiliate links, commercial partnerships, sponsored content, newsletter sponsorships and content licensing. Commercial relationships never determine editorial conclusions. All sponsored or commercial material is clearly labelled. For full details of our funding sources and governance, see our Ownership & Funding page. If you wish to advertise or sponsor content, please contact our partnerships team at the email address below.

How can I enquire about sponsored content?

If you are interested in sponsoring an article or series on Weltmeldung.de, please write to sponsored@weltmeldung.de. Our commercial team will discuss options and pricing with you.

For general enquiries about this policy or any other editorial matter, you can reach us through our Contact page. We also invite you to read our AI & Automation Policy to understand how we use digital tools while keeping human judgement at the centre of our journalism.

In short

You can trust that every paid piece on this site is clearly labelled, fact‑checked and editorially independent. Our sponsors help keep the site running, but they never dictate the story we tell. If you ever see something that seems unclear, please let us know.
